VOYAGER 7
Humanity builds machines to make the journeys no human body could survive and sends them out one way, to explore worlds no human will ever see, until one of them finds the first life beyond Earth and becomes part of it.
VOYAGER 7 is the trailer for an original science fiction film by Karim Youssef and Steven Quach, produced as an XPRIZE submission. Humanity crosses the solar system through autonomous probes rather than crewed ships, and one of those probes walks into a world that is already inhabited.
Plot
A unit lands on the first world found teeming with life and begins to explore it, scanning and cataloguing as it goes. Everything it finds is extraordinary, and all of it is reported home. Then one of the machines gets trapped in an underground biome, and everything that follows starts there.

Characters
The Va'an
Bone-white hide over a long tapering cranium. The skull is shaped from infancy into a flattened crest, chalk pigment ground into a band across the eyes.
The Kesh
Pale chitin plates and a single enormous forward-facing eye of dark glass. Red ochre pressed into the plate seams, radiating out from the eye.
The Ith
Coated in slow-running black tar that drips off the jaw, bone-white flesh showing in the streaks where it has run clear. One flat milk-white eye, no pupil.
The Sull
No eyes at all. The whole front of the shield-shaped head is a thermal field, and a band of tissue darkens where it registers warmth. Three ochre stripes read as rank.
The Orunh
A bone mask grown from its own skull, incised with concentric grooves rubbed with red ochre. Four small black eyes in a diamond.
The Orn
Translucent skin over a visible ridged skull, soot-black spirals drawn on by finger. A headdress of dried seed-pods lashed with sinew.
The Narak
The face splits into dozens of thin vertical leaves that fan open to sample the air. When it attends to something they lock flat into a single plane.
